I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner, but I realized yesterday that the comic panels in Haiku Comics are ideal for creating iPhone wallpapers. I’ve wanted to create some Haiku Comics desktop backgrounds for a long time, but I’ve been a bit perplexed as to how that would work. But iPhone wallpapers? No sweat!

After spending a little time digging through the archives, I picked out a couple of images that I thought would look good on the iPhone. I showed them to Bob and he gave his approval so, here you go — Haiku Comics first official set of iPhone wallpapers!

Are there any other images you’d like to see turned into iPhone wallpapers? Let me know and I’ll consider them for the next set.

If you’ve fanned Haiku Comics on Facebook or been following me on Twitter, then you know that Bob and I were exhibitors at this year’s Alternative Press Expo (APE) in San Francisco, California. This was the first time either of us had attended an event in support of Haiku Comics, and we had a lot of fun finally getting a to meet some of our fans and introducing the public to our comic.

Well, except for the people who came to our table because they liked unicorns — I think we traumatized a few of them. [I know we did. Of course Nathan says it like it’s a bad thing, but hey, I gave the poor girl a bookmark. — Robert]

As you know, this was the first opportunity anyone had to buy our new book, which collects the first 100 comic strips from the website. I know many of you who were not able to attend the convention have been anxiously awaiting to hear if we sold out of the limited edition, sign-and-numbered copies of the collection or if you would get a chance to buy them online. We do still have a few copies — we will hopefully have news soon about when you’ll be able to purchase them from the website.

For those that bought a copy of the book at APE, I offered to do a free sketch in the front of the book — Bob wrote personalized haikus. I’m not used to drawing under pressure, but it was kind of fun. I drew a lot of zombies and vampires, which included a zombie cherub and a zombie unicorn. I also drew a zombie eating a sandwich for fan Cyrus Ha, who was kind enough to send me a scan:

Bob and I had a great time at the convention and we really appreciated all the positive feedback we got on the comic. We hope to do more conventions in the future, so if we ever hit your neck of the woods, we’d love it if you stopped by and said hello.

WARNING

Haiku Comics often pokes fun at the horror film genre and may contain humorous drawings of nudity and violence not suitable for children or the workplace.
